How to install Coppermine Gallery 1.4.10
Coppermine Gallery is a popular open-source photogallery script that’s used on sites all over the web. And it’s a very easy install.
Download the files
Head on over to the Coppermine home page to get the download file. Across the top you’ll see a link for Download. Click there to be taken to the SourceForge site to download the files. What you’re looking for is the latest stable version of Coppermine. There are also download options for themes, ports, and modifications that you may be interested in after you have a working installation.

Unzipping and the Database
You’re going to need to unzip the downloaded file and upload it to your server. You’re also going to need to create a database for Coppermine to use. If you need help with the database I have posts explaining how to add databases to several different hosting control panels.
The first screen
Now you’ll need to browse to where you uploaded Coppermine using your web browser. For this tutorial we’re going to assume you’re using www.example.com and installed Coppermine in the CPG directory. So browse to www.example.com/cpg/ . You should see a screen that looks like the following.

You shouldn’t have to do anything at this point. You’ll be redirected to the first page of the installation. But if you’re impatient click where it says “here”.
Step 1
After the redirect you will be taken to a page where you’ll enter the username and password for the admin user along with an email address, login credentials to access the MySQL database you created, and an optional path to ImageMagick.
The first part of the page looks like the following. Enter a username, password, and email address for the account you want to log in with. Be careful selecting a good password because you want your site to be secure.

The next section prompts you to enter the database information you created earlier. 99% of the time Host will be localhost although some larger hosts, GoDaddy.com notably, use other names. If in doubt, check with your host. The table prefix can stay with the default.

And the last section for this page is to enter the path to the ImageMagick convert command. This is an optional field, although if your server supports ImageMagick go ahead and enter the path. If you don’t know the path check with your host.

Click on “Let’s Go” to go on.
And that’s it!
Not much to that install. Assuming everything went ok you should see a page like the following. Click on “Let’s Continue” and you’ll be taken to your new gallery.

At the very least you’re going to want to click on the Config tab and change a few settings under the General Settings section to match your gallery.
Did something go wrong?
Feel free to post a comment below if you need help with something. I’ve only installed Coppermine twice, once a few years ago and once for this tutorial. But I’ll try to help out.
