Are you addicted to checking stats?
How often do you check your site statistics? Daily, hourly, every 15 minutes. Or how about your Adsense stats? Do you have the Adsense plugin for Firefox so that you are always up-to-date?
I’ll admit it. I’m a stats junkie. I tend to check stats on my sites every few hours, and sadly they don’t change all that much. It’s sort of a rush though to see the unique visitor count climbing.
One of the best things I did was to start using Google Analytics and not look at AWStats as much. With AWStats I could click on the update link and see exactly how I was doing right then. Analytics updates once a day so I have a built in limit to how often I can check it. I suppose that’s a good thing.
Another thing I’ve done when I have work that needs to get done is to have 5 minute “stats breaks” built into my day. It helps to keep me focused and sure is healthier than a smoke break.
