For the past couple of months I was planning on adding this forum when the daily visitors got above 200 for at least a few days in a row. However, I'm not all that patient of a person and was hovering around 175 visitors a day when I finally decided to go ahead and add this board to FBW.

What happened though is since adding this forum my daily visitors have gone up from about 175 a day to about 225 a day. Sure, those stats are nothing compared to big sites but bumping my average daily visitors up about 25% seems like a good thing.

With the thousands of other forums out there, why did I decide to start another? Fair question.

One of the goals of this blog was to have a forum associated with it. I didn't start out with a forum because and empty blog and an empty forum don't put a very good image out there. But the blog has become fairly active, at least compared to other sites I've setup, so it seemed time.

And I wanted an excuse to play with a different forum software package. The other forums I've either been a moderator on or setup myself have all run Simple Machines. Now I've got nothing against SMF; I just wanted to try something else. Since this blog was already running WordPress I had an excuse to try out bbPress which I had heard good things about.

I've been wanting to add a forum to Forums, Blogs, Wikis for a while now and finally decided that it wasn't going to add itself. So a few hours after uploading bbPress and here we are.

So, what to expect? That's really up to you. I get quite a bit of email from visitors here asking questions. Some of them wind up as blog posts, but for short answers I usually just shoot back an email. My hope is that those of y'all with questions will ask them here instead and we can share the discussion with other visitors.
